β€œThe progressive left seemingly has no opinion on men getting laid.”

I’m pretty sure the progressive left has been fighting for reproductive rights and gender equality for decades. This whole β€œmale loneliness epidemic” is just really pathetic misogyny and we don’t need to pander to it.

'Art creates connection': Sask. artists push back against call to cut provincial grant funding | CBC News The Canadian Taxpayers Federation (CTF) is calling on the Saskatchewan government to eliminate what it describes as β€œwasteful spending” on public arts funding.

Sorry to tell you, CTF dude, but humans will still be doing art long after whatever β€œproductive contribution” you are making is obsolete. Art has value. Always has. Always will. www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...

Jeff and I were scheduled for Covid vaccines today, got to the pharmacy and told we couldn’t after all because not over 65 and immunocompromised. So we need to wait til October and pay (but even then it’s not a given they’ll be available). Thanks and fuck you, Alberta government.

This is extremely relevant to the safety tech I help build. Definitely bookmarking and thinking about how it could help us.

Every time I try to build something in TypeScript I walk away thinking I must be missing some really fundamental information on how to program NodeJS apps. Like β€œthere’s no way this is everyone else’s experience?”

I’m starting to think it’s just kind of chaotic and hard to use.

#ElbowsUp has changed for the Liberal Party of Canada after the campaign so many voters are now #EyebrowsUp. They better get back to their campaign promises to nation build, and not pick apart national institutions like CBC and VIA Rail.

Not really an overstatement to say that the test of a free society is whether or not comedians can make fun of the country's leader on TV without repurcussions.

A hand holding β€œA Wizard of Earthsea” by Ursula Le Gin.

I picked this up today at a used book store on a whim because Le Guin rarely misses. 30 pages in and I’m really liking it! I’ve only read a few Sci-fi books from her, the fantasy setting is refreshing!

Yay, I hope this pulls me out of my yearly reading slump πŸ™‚

It's not surprising that rightwingers fundamentally misunderstand the point of Superman.
He's not supposed to be a power fantasy for them, he's a fantasy for the rest of us.
What if the most powerful man in the world was a good dude who cares about people and uses his power to protect everyone else?

We had rubber mulch on top of landscape fabric. Probably some salt in there too from the sidewalk and driveway. It’s a miracle anything is growing in there at all.

We had a flower garden that the previous owners had landscaped with with rubber β€œmulch”. The ground was dead and nothing could grow where that stuff had been laid down.

We removed it all and a few years later things are finally starting to recover.

My excitement for the Superman movie had multiplied significantly since finding out they made Nathan Fillion play the Green Lantern and they gave him that haircut. There’s no way it’s a bad movie with all that going on.
