The image is a public health poster from NYC Health titled “Prevent Long COVID.” It explains that the only way to prevent Long COVID is to avoid getting COVID-19, as each infection carries a risk. It lists prevention tips: Wear a well-fitting mask (N95, KN95, KF94) in crowded or poorly ventilated indoor spaces. Stay up to date with COVID-19 vaccinations. Stay home if sick, or wear a mask if you must go out. Avoid close contact with sick people. Wash hands often or use hand sanitizer.

The best way to prevent Long COVID is to prevent getting COVID-19 or getting it multiple times. That means staying up to date with COVID-19 vaccines and wearing a well-fitting mask, especially when indoors among crowds.

Feeding raw diets to pets, with fresh meat or unpasteurized milk, may look “natural.” But it can hide a serious danger: H5N1 avian influenza. Contaminated raw products have already caused fatal cat outbreaks in Europe, Asia, and North America. 1/10
But not all news is bad. Pasteurization completely inactivates H5N1, even when fragments remain detectable. Pasteurized milk is safe for human and animal consumption, reinforcing the need for strict sanitary control in food chains. 7/10

The Pacific Ocean is the hottest it’s been in a century.
A vast marine heat wave – nicknamed “the blob” – is back, and it’s bigger than ever.

Chart showing North Pacific Marine Heat Wave at an unheard of record of 2.4 C surface temperature increase
Half the Phytoplankton in our oceans, creating oxygen for our every other breath, like coral it resembles, is in sea soon too hot to support it, Prof Alex Rogers reported to a fringe event at Conference with @rozsavage.bsky.social and @marineconservation.bsky.social

Map of monthly temperature anomalies in August 2025 relative to the 1951-1980 average.
Nearly the entire Northern Pacific is experiencing a strong marine heat wave, with record warmth in Japan and abnormally warm waters stretching all the way to the North American coastline.
This much extra warmth in a large ocean basin is very rare.
