You can ask to have your supply capped for gas and you won’t have a standing charge as you have no supply. But until then your property has nothing stopping it being used, so you pay for the pipes. And short of building/buying a property “off grid” you have and use elec so big no on that one. And…

They just include it in the price. Either way you’re paying it, and split out like it is on electric and gas charging is more transparent because you can see exactly what makes up your charges.

Because they use that and other fuels to generate the electricity. It doesn’t just magically turn up you know.

Have you actually checked what you’ve used over the last year? You can use your last years usage to give a rough estimate of your next years usage and then check your monthly payments against that.

You’re literally paying for maintenance of the cables / pipes that supply you. Elec & Gas dont just magically turn up at your house you know.
