Jon Stewart's conversation with Michael Lewis revealed the importance of recognizing "faceless" government service workers as people who selflessly better communities by solving problems the private sector won't/can't complete. Also, some of the stories Lewis tells are delightfully funny!

Water remains the standalone no. 1 killer in severe weather events. Repeated rounds of heavy rainfall over increasingly saturated grounds will make this a potentially “potentially devastating event” (these are NWS Memphis’ words, not mine).

I decided I would go to DC to see the full-bloom #cherryblossoms! With great luck, I stumbled into the cherry blossom festival, so I had the pleasure of listening to the Taiko drums and witnessing thousands of kites over the national mall. It was truly an awesome Saturday with great #DCwx

"Creating a ruckus" is his euphemism for wrote an op-ed in a newspaper. The Constitution protects all people under U.S. jurisdiction (not just citizens) from government actions penalizing them for speech, use of the free press, or peaceful assembly.

I recall one of these days! I saw a storm over the Lincoln memorial, so we took cover under the Washington monument. Many people were not so lucky (and didn't have a meteorologist in their group). Got some crazy video tho.

Fun fact: I was home for break that whole week and it was in the 70s. I then flew back to Charlottesville less than 24 hours before this tornado. #IAmTheBubble

A new NWS damage survey reveals that my parents' house was almost impacted by an EF0 (probably about 900 feet from the top endpoint). Luckily, they had a NOAA weather radio because something similar happened last year.

Moving to Charlottesville really motivated me to change some habits. A better diet and more exercise has allowed me to lose 20 pounds (while gaining muscle) since August.
