Taking a break from this page for a while. With everything going on in the government, I need to take some time away for mental health purposes. Feel free to connect with me on LinkedIn, I'll be over there.

I'm not quitting my job. There's been a lot of stress the last month and a half, but as the slogan of my department goes, we find a way. That being said, I swore an oath to protect the Constitution and will do so no matter what. I believe in the ideals America was founded on. That will never change.

Public service, either through military or civil ways, is a noble and good endeavor. We should be grateful to those that choose to do it.

Many scientists put in a lot of work over those 30 years to make this possible. Thank you for all that you've done. This field truly is amazing.

For anyone who cares about NWS, I'd implore you to write to your congressman/congresswoman and tell them that we are public safety. Meteorologists at the US Forest Service have their exemption. But for now, NWS is not being seen as public safety by someone who is crucial in this”

I'm pleasantly surprised that the NWS and NOAA are rated favorably. The scientists at both facilities deserve so much credit for everything they do.

Working for the government is surreal right now. In some ways, it's business as usual, but in other ways, there's many adjustments happening quickly and it's definitely causing stress for a lot of us.
All I can do is have faith that everything will be alright.

Finding Social Outlets Can we talk about how difficult it is to find people to socialize with outside of work as adults? My husband and I moved to Massachusetts last year and have had quite the time trying to find groups to socialize with. Sure, I could go to a bar and meet people there if I wanted to, but I drink so rarely that it’s not my scene. On top of that, while my ears are not as sensitive as they once were, as I can be in the loud atmosphere of a bar for a little bit and be fine, it can still be overstimulati

After graduating from college programs, I discovered one of the hardest parts of adulthood: finding social outlets outside of work. How do people find groups when they finish school? Here's what I've learned.

Election Anxiety and Burnout I didn't open social media on Tuesday, November 5, or most of Wednesday, November 6. I made the mistake of opening social media before I went to bed Wednesday night, and I saw exactly what I missed.I'm convinced social media is both great and awful. It's great because it connects people and allows conversations to happen regardless of distance. When it comes to politics, however, it's less than ideal. I saw the same posts about the election at least 20 times per site, which is exactly what happe

We got the election results on Monday, and I have to be honest with you, I'm tired. Not just because of this election, but because of previous ones. How do I move forward from this?

Drawing Boundaries So how does one draw a boundary? Respectfully, of course, but how do we clarify that a boundary, when established, is one that people shouldn't cross? It can be tough to draw them. I have a story about how I had to draw a serious boundary with people in my life. Let's talk about how I did it.My husband and I got married in October 2023. Before our marriage, we were asked one question consistently: will I convert to my husband's religion? The number of times we got asked this was almost comical.

I used to struggle with setting boundaries. It can be difficult to stand up for myself sometimes. It took time to acquire this skill. Here's how I do it.
