Feels like a very intimate listening experience, like sitting in a tiny basement club all sat around the band as they calmly bounce off each other musically.

Crystal Castles - Crystal Castles (2008)

It’s hard to overstate how much different Crystal Castles was from from most of what was going on in alternative when the first songs from this dropped. It’s been one of the most imitated records since but never duplicated.

Yeah, I mentioned it, Nick 🙂 (well, it’s on my growing list). For the record (no pun etc etc), I prefer their debut to their second album. It’s a brilliant album. Not sure whether it’s brill enough to make my 5 though.

Japan -Tim Drum (1981) #vinyl
5th and last studio album for them as Japan and its there greatest. Self produced along with Steve Nye who helped bring out the unique sound and feel. It hasn’t dated as it sounds like nothing else. Art rock at its finest. Essential
