But then, a few seconds later, she stuck her head back in and said:
"Actually, no. I don't want the last thing I say to you to be about your husband. I hope you have a great summer!"
What a legend.

When the class ended, I said my goodbyes, trying my best not to get choked up, and the students started to leave.
The last one out the door was a female student who I particularly enjoyed teaching and chatting with at the end of each class.

One of my favorite interactions with a student happened on the last day I taught at Miami University while finishing my master's
Throughout the spring semester, it had come up once or twice that I was getting married the following summer.

This is why AI refusal is important and necessary.
Came across a (currently in-progress) series on YouTube by fellow DRC alum Sarah Fischer about the academic job market in rhet/comp. Definitely check it out if you're going on the market this year!

Really can't emphasize enough that Character.AI is a predatory company profiting off of vulnerable children and if you're a teacher using the platform - or other LLMs - to "talk" with fictional or historical figures just stop.

I took a fascinating class on the rhetoric of the nazi regime in grad school, and I remember the professor explaining why people SHOULD read Mein Kampf today to understand the mentality that led to Hitler's rise to power. It's entirely possible she was reading purely for educational purposes.
