Can't seem to get backing for my film project "Noah: The Early Years". They all say the narrative lacks an ark.

@jonnybid.bsky.social Hi - know it's not the age group you teach, but love the suggestions you pay and wondered if you know of any good lists of books appropriate for 2-3 or even 4-year-olds?

The truth about impartiality at the BBC And the hysteria of the current "crisis"

The reaction to the Panorama edit has been nothing short of hysterical. Yes the BBC has some impartiality problems. But its biggest isn't the one you think.

New piece from me.

Two paragraphs from Michael Prescott's BBC memo:

In reality, the first part of Trump’s speech: β€œWe’re gonna walk down to the Capitol and I’ll be with you,” came 15 minutes into the speech. The second half of the sentence that was aired by Panorama, β€œand we fight. We fight like hell....” came 54 minutes later.

Fifteen minutes into the speech, what Trump actually said: β€œWe are gonna walk down to the Capitol and I’ll be with you. I know that everyone here will soon be marching over to the Capitol building to peacefully and patriotically make your voices heard.” It was completely misleading to edit the clip in the way Panorama aired it. The fact that he did not explicitly exhort supporters to go down and fight at Capitol Hill was one of the reasons there were no federal charges for incitement to riot.

Four paragraphs from NPR's transcript of Trump's January 6th speech:

Now, it is up to Congress to confront this egregious assault on our democracy. And after this, we're going to walk down, and I'll be there with you, we're going to walk down, we're going to walk down.

Anyone you want, but I think right here, we're going to walk down to the Capitol, and we're going to cheer on our brave senators and congressmen and women, and we're probably not going to be cheering so much for some of them.

Because you'll never take back our country with weakness. You have to show strength and you have to be strong. We have come to demand that Congress do the right thing and only count the electors who have been lawfully slated, lawfully slated.

I know that everyone here will soon be marching over to the Capitol building to peacefully and patriotically make your voices heard.

I do like how, in the bit of Prescott's memo where he criticises the BBC for editing together different parts of Trump's speech, his own quote of "what Trump actually said" is... edited together from different parts of his speech.

I know we're not supposed to talk about Woody Allen, but ANNIE HALL is one of the supreme American movies & Diane Keaton's wild charisma is 90% of the reason why. And btw her performance of "Seems Like Old Times" is pure magicβ€”up there with the greatest musical scenes in cinema, zero doubt

Thoughtful piece on SEND, parents' expectations and gimmicks. Educators need to be more honest with parents about the need and efficacy of interventions and what can and cannot be remediated by classroom support.

Picard: Computer! What can you tell me about the lifeform attacking the ship?

Preppy voice barely audible through static hiss: A fantastic and insightful question! Now you're really thinking like a starfleet captain. This query really gets to the heart of the thorny issue of xenobiology.

Education isn't working Learning to work with AI requires more than just using it

Writing will always be a useful life skill.

But if AI transforms the economy, will it be an economically valuable skill?

And either way - what does that mean for education?

If AI is being used extensively in office jobs, then should we be letting students use AI in the classroom?

No - here's why.

With reference to 3 papers that show what you do in a job isn't the template for what you do in the classroom.
