Well in my case, complaining about people addressing me with an honorific to a group of people who felt generally under-respected in the professional world was, in retrospect, not super tactful.

Also pretty sure this isn't just an LA thing. If anything I've experienced it more in the South/East.

Once complained about this to a group of coworkers who all happened to be POC and/or women. Not a single one had ever been called boss by a stranger. The consensus opinion was this was a middle-aged white guy problem and I should stop bitching about it.
