I'm not sure I understand. Your graph shows national debt at about 100% of gdp. Is govt debt much higher with private savings offsetting this? Apologies if I'm overlooking something obvious but I'm not an economist.

Yes, I saw recently that Israel spent about 5% of gdp on R&D, which was well in excess of Oz. Most of that was private rather than public investment though. Would be interested to understand the underlying reasons for the difference.

For mine, I come to bluesky to learn something, laugh or enjoy myself. If another user promises interactions that achieve none of these, I'm happy for them to cease to exist (figuratively).

I think all platforms have a tendency for users to self sort into like minded communities. Maybe that is easier here, due to the lack of a directive algorithm to feed people posts and also the powerful blocking tools.

I'm in Queensland, Australia. Low information voters make their decisions poorly and without much thought, like everywhere. That problem is intractable, I feel. The system does tend to produce a result that is broadly representative of the overall views of the electorate. I like it.

Motoring enthusiasts party as notable exception but even that was OK.

We had nineteen parties and some ungrouped independent candidates in the recent senate election here and, it was fine? If you want to go to individuals you can rank about a hundred, mostly for the joy of deciding who you hate the most. Pretty easy to work out who is viable.

Yes, ansto provides valuable services with characterisation and producing radioisotopes. I hope the emergence of nuclear power in the election debate shone a light on the cost and timeframe issues it has. Hard to know what role that played in the drubbing though - so many issues to choose from.
