Apologies if this sounds rather basic and/or "partisan," but I really think a minimum requirement for people in positions of political power should be that they possess a sense of decency that is within normal parameters. Don't need saints - just not the kinds of entitled monsters the GOP elevates.

In the same way that it's almost impossible to find someone in their 70s that was pro-segregation, it will be impossible 50 years from now to find someone who was pro Trump. Because, as Omar El Akkad put it, One Day, Everyone Will Have Always Been Against This.

We cannot let the history written about this time make the same mistake, because if, god willing, we make it through this, the quiet onlookers will claim they were always on our side. And they'll claim this confidently, as soon as it's safe - as soon as it's in their favor to claim it.

History looks favorably on the people who fought the nazis, who fought the confederates, and who fought the segregationists, and history rightfully shames those who supported those institutions. But much less ink is spilled on the quiet enablers who sat by and let history happen in front of them.

Voting NO on the DHS funding bill is the bare minimum.

Backing Kristi Noem’s impeachment is the bare minimum.

Holding law-breaking ICE agents legally accountable is the bare minimum.

ICE is beyond reform. Abolish it.

How are those grocery and energy prices looking? How about healthcare costs? Are we great yet?

We had eradicated this disease.

And now because of targeted disinformation, children, immunocompromised people, elderly folks, and so many others become victims in this proxy war and we have a new avoidable pandemic.
