This Fourth of July, I am taking a moment to reflect. Things are hard right now. They are probably going to get worse before they get better.

But I love our country — and when you love something, you fight for it. Together, we will continue to fight for the ideals of our nation.

Today, I’m graduating along with all 96 members of my senior class. But just a few towns over, in Meriden, Connecticut, a high school senior won’t have the chance to walk across the stage at graduation and celebrate the culmination of all his hard work, because ICE robbed him of that. (1/4)

Because if anything, it sends the message that undocumented citizens should not comply with ICE formalities because they’ll just be detained and deported.

Now Is Not the Time to Primary Democratic Leadership Let’s win the war before we fight each other.

I believe in new leadership. I believe some people absolutely should be primaried. But if we make that our focus right now, we’re only helping the GOP. It’s like fighting over the steering wheel while the car is about to go off a cliff.
