A friend of mine in Chicago just shared a video on IG of an ICE operation near her house. The operation happened just minutes before the neighborhood Halloween parade. ICE used tear gas and multiple parents had to wash their kids' (including toddlers) eyes out.

Still masking and still mindblown how many people don't mask in medical settings. So many people coughing, sneezing, and obviously sick and so many people unmasked.

It really feels like so many medical settings have gone backwards in infection prevention and control.

A lot of people think it’s unreasonable to expect masking in public spaces

What’s unreasonable is accepting a mass disabling event when we have tools to stop it

What’s unreasonable is expecting disabled people to stay home forever

What’s unreasonable is risking your long term health unnecessarily

Beyond all reason Long COVID patients are constantly harangued about our requests for COVID safety. Yet what we're asking for is far less than what we're called on to do to survive.

Generally, ableds only notice ableism when they think noticing will earn them capital, be it monetary or social cred from their abled peers for being a "good person." The second it isn't convenient - the second *we* and our experiences and our needs aren't convenient - they "forget" to notice again.

It’s an absolute shame that DC fired Gretchen Felker- Martin for exercising free speech and then @bsky.app suspended her account. Every writer here should be decrying this because we have to stand up for each other! This is ridiculous.
