You are so right. I find it interesting that year after year, Columbia issued Andy Williams' singles every 3 months, and every now and then, one would catch on with Top 40 station programmers. His albums were consistent sellers, and he had more singles hits than most MOR artists.

Jon Lovitz As Tommy Flanagan - Saturday Night Live
#SNL returns with a new episode this weekend. If they don't bring in #JonLovitz to testify about a certain Signal "group chat," they're missing a golden opportunity. #ColdOpen #ThatsTheTicket www.youtube.com/watch?v=vLRK...

2/2: Fortunately, clouds and cooler temps (among other factors) lowered our risk on Saturday. But we were ready! Thanks to those who seek to protect us, especially NOAA, which is now facing massive personnel and budget cuts. What would we do without them? (We could soon find out).

1/2: Another day to be thankful. Our area was mostly spared from the storms that caused deaths and destruction in the Midwest and parts of the South. I'm amazed by those who are disappointed that the storms were not worse. The real weather experts (and the pretenders) prepared us for the worst.

5/5: If you so choose, you can be one of "those" people. But I'm thankful to have made it through that terrible time, and I'm grateful for each ordinary, normal day.

4/5: And soon we were complaining that burgers were 50 cents higher, and some people were attacking vaccines. (Even after the president instituted Operation Warp Speed to accelerate vaccines that saved many lives).

3/5: There were no live music performances. We couldn't see our family members in hospitals and nursing homes. Many of us couldn't go to work. It was AWFUL. Then gradually we got our lives back.

2/5: We were told it only affected 10-15 people. The next few years were MISERABLE. We lost many loved ones. Yes, gas was cheap, but everything was closed so there was nowhere to go (supply and demand). There were no fans at ball games, just cardboard cutout pictures of people.

1/5: Some folks have short memories, but not me. I vividly recall 5 years ago today: we got serious about COVID-19. We were told schools would close for 2 weeks, and it should clear up "with warm weather" and we'd be back to normal by Easter.

3/3: Carl was familiar with the area from having spent part of his youth on Missionary Ridge, and Dolly learned that couples could get their marriage license and get married the same day in Ringgold. Plus she said, "It sounded good. Ring-gold was a good place to get hitched."

1/3: Dolly Parton's husband of almost 60 years, Carl Dean has died at 82. From my book Hello Chattanooga: "It is a popular myth that Dolly and Carl were married at the Ringgold (GA) Wedding Chapel. Some even say the Catoosa County Courthouse.

#SNL50 was good, but should've been great. Wish #BillHader could have made it. #DanaCarvey was sorely missed. This show was scheduled a year ago, but some of it was poorly executed. Lorne is famous for cutting out weak material, but at least 30 minutes should have been trimmed.

I've seen some really cool #SuperBowlLIX commercials (or PSA's) featuring beautiful messages of empowerment, diversity, and acceptance. Very refreshing in a time when much of the nation seems headed in another direction.

Most radio stations won't play 60s or 70s hits. Yet during the Super Bowl I've heard ads with "Let Your Love Flow," "Whole Lotta Love," "Monday Monday," "Born to Be Wild," "These Boots are Made for Walking" and "Take Me Home Country Roads." So they're good enough for the Big game, but not radio.

No excuses: the #Ichiro non-voter for #HOF. Many baseball writers post articles explaining their votes (some of which are unpopular). I admire them for doing that. I believe they owe that to fans. Proposed new rule: explain your decisions, or forfeit your right to vote.

1/2: From my book "Hello Chattanooga": Jimmy Carter visited the Chattanooga area more than any other president, mostly before and after his term in office. While governor of Georgia, he attended newsman Mort Lloyd's funeral at Brainerd Church of Christ in 1974.
