I lived through Russians trashing people exactly like this both on TV and IRL for years. There's always an excuse to blame the victim: they weren't properly dressed, they weren't polite or thankful enough, they didn't do this or that, so they deserved it. I left because I couldn't take it anymore.

I många år efter min flytt till Sverige och på grund av kriget kunde jag inte skriva ett enda ord i mina noveller. Alla projekt verkade för barnsliga jämfört med vad som händer i världen.
