1/2 You might find the dissertation cited below (ProQuest Number 10744260), which I chaired, useful for your literature review. Kolodnicki used RepGrid to study parent engagement in a way different from what I described for you, but it will give you an idea of the method and visuals it produces.

3/3 RepGrid would help you formally identify constructs that emerge from the stories. Optionally you could conduct Pseudo-Correspondence Analysis, which would produce some useful statistics (like strengths of associations) and some very informative graphs and dendrograms to visualize your results.

2/3 If you want to extend that traditional approach to a mixed method, you might consider also developing a personal Repertory Grid (RepGrid) to help systematize the constructs you discover from the narratives. That would just involve a self-interview so you wouldn't need to collect any extra data.

1/3 Great methodology for your topic. I assume you plan to analyze the narratives using personal insights and interpretations to identify common and contrasting factors affecting parental engagement. That would certainly be more than sufficient for an excellent dissertation.
