Oregon State men’s basketball transfers paid well for NIL deals, and here are the numbers Oregon State lost seven players to the transfer portal, including the Beavers top five scorers from the 2024-25 season.

What would it have taken for Oregon State to retain its MBB roster from 2024-25? We have the numbers.

Much more complicated. Some went for money. Some wanted to be closer to home. Some wanted more social media exposure. Understanding the motivation of each helps recruit players that are more likely to stay.

Gender is next. Title IX and equal funding for women's sports is on the table. Retracting equal funding for revenue sharing opportunities is the tip of the iceberg.

πŸ€‘AD Rob Mullens’ recent fundraising plea reflects the new reality for the Ducks. The football program needs to balance raising cash for player payrolls, while still needing donations to meet massive debt obligations and take care of expensive-to-maintain buildings.

πŸ’°Oregon needs the Big 10’s future media revenue to stay afloat.

😢Knight was likely silent on Oregon’s departure to the Big 10 because it was in part his Legacy Fund plan that drove the Ducks to blow up the Pac-12.

πŸ€Oregon’s AD predicted the Arena would break even in 2013. It lost $11.5 million in 2013 (and continues to hemorrhage cash today). Past media revenue windfalls saved the Ducks from massive budget cuts.

If FY26 is similar, the Pac-12 War Chest could be $263 million. The difference is the CFP/Rose Bowl payouts. Wilner projected $124 million from those, but it could be closer to $163 million based on this release. This "future revenue analysis" & Wilner's estimate were both prepared in March 2024.

FY 24 numbers are irrelevant. The Pac 12 received a $65 million settlement from that fiscal year. The FY24 balance was distributed equally. The FY25 revenue ($99 million) is all retained by the Pac 12.
