I haven't read the Carol Leonning and Aaron Davis book Injustice yet, but my impression from the news over the past few years is Jack Smith and his team moved fast. The problem was Garland, the wrong person for the job, and Biden was busy napping or planning re-election.

Name and shame them. Miss Lindsey Graham wants $millions of taxpayer dollars.

The Slavery in 1860 map is amazing. You can clearly see the Black Belt in Alabama (so called because of rich black dirt), and the Mississippi Delta. And Appalachia, where the topography prevents cash crop agriculture, hence little need for enslaved people. But why so few in NC compared to SC?

And many babies born today might still be alive in 2100. Much of the US might look like Sudan, with a dystopian society to match. One benefit: there will be need for weight loss drugs.

Or maybe we'll get our shit together and start reversing climate change?

Good stuff! As for THIS is closer to THAT, but in time, we're now closer to January 2050 than we are to January 2000. I think many people discount predictions of future climate disaster because 2050 seems so far away.

I'm not kink shaming, but are you seeking some type of punishment? I've seen some of Ted's college videos, and I don't want to inflict that on any good person. Unless you're planning to goof on hallucinogens. I'd rather watch Mystery Science Theater 3000 with friends and a beverage. Sidehackers!

Well yeah, because ... dogs. Dogs know.

I hate the photo of Ted's little white dog (Bichon Frise or similar) at Ted's front door when he and family were in Cancun during the TX winter power crisis a few years ago. I'll bet his own dog barely tolerates him.

You might be right. But before the 2024 election, most noise to release the Epstein files came from the right wing--from DOJ Barbie and FBI Ken (and Bongino who might now be fired, or in intensive drug therapy, who knows? Obv he needs help). Corrupt AGs gonna AG, but the truth will come out.

Do it Donald! I'll bet he has people in his inner circle telling him it will look like evidence of guilt, but he knows he's smarter than everyone (his Uncle taught at MIT!) so he'll ignore sensible advice. Not smart, but Trump is not smart.

Legally, I suspect all of the above comments are correct (I'm not a lawyer). But the court of public opinion says where's there's smoke there's a potential fire to investigate. Most right-wingers don't like sex predators-- many have teenage daughters they wouldn't let near Trump.

I'd bet my house that Trump, deep down in his lizard brain, likes the fact that his name comes up most in those emails. His lawyers, friends (does he have any real friends?), maybe his (strong pre-nup) wife Melanomia surely warned him of this, yes? Down the escalator again, Donald, you ASSHOLE!

My interests at 60 were about the same as my interests at 30, and I think it's all about the same as everyone else's interests: paying the bills. Interests at 20 are getting laid and random shit, and today a lot of bad stuff like betting on meme stocks, crypto, sports betting. 1. Don't gamble!

I'll disagree on an upper limit 60 or 65, at least if the goal is to prevent senility in the Presidency. I'm 66 and still mostly lsekjrflskjlsf (senior moment, sorry!). 60 or 65 *might* be good to align the President with the majority younger population, but no guarantee.

Donald thinks we can fix our trade relationship with S. Korea with a tariff. Only 15%, but still stupid. The US could *someday* reshore our shipbuilding industry, military and commercial. Expensive, but good jobs. But like it or not, for years it's buying from SK, Japan, and of course China.

Yes, some very sharp 80 or 90 y.o.s, but do you want them leading the free world? (this assumes the free world still considers the US the leader, which is ... debatable) I'd put the limit at 75 time of election. Older pols could be appointed special advisors. Not perfect, but better than now.

I don't agree with the "requiring tremendous psychological expertise" part. Trump is an open book. He's a bundle of needs, and a sick narcissist. I suspect he's an easy mark for any foreign intelligence agent. Or CEO. It was easy for Tim Apple to buy his favor with a gold bauble.

Every chance we get we should say that Trump is old as dirt. Probably in dementia too, but that requires a medical judgement. Repubs effectively (and justifiably) used that against Biden; time for Dems to return the favor.

We need an amendment to set an upper age limit on Presidents when sworn in.

This is top of list of my go-to movies for a laugh when TrumpWorld gets especially shitty, so now pretty much all the time. Bridesmaids too. The Big Sick is also great, with a mix of comedy and deeper meaning.

Yes, if you're trying to make an accurate biopic. But how about someone even older (I think), like Ted Danson? That would enhance the creepiness of old male preying on young female. Of course if Danson has any common sense he'd reject the role.

Guilty as charged. I've had a charmed life with 30+ years in Minnesota, then 13 years in San Diego and Silicon Valley, then 15+ in Colorado. My theory: blue states are better.

Sun might be setting but I'm seeing rays of hope. We are much better situated than German citizens in the 30's. As poisonous as social media can be, it's a great way to attract crowds to an event (pro-Dem, anti-ICE, etc). Phone cameras too. And many citizens, even on the left, have guns.

True that the R's have been in the pocket of Big Oil, and fighting green energy since the Carter years. I'm loath to say anything in defense of Ronnie Raygun, but Carter's panels were solar water heater panels, needing removal for a re-roof. Old tech. Very few use that anymore, except off grid.

Agree we got a wanna-be-fascist, agree on the crazy part, don't agree on the internally consistent part. The right wing is starting to self-destruct, just in time for 2026. MTG is making waves on the far right. Will be fun to watch.

I think the green shoots among younger Dems are appearing now.

Kim Jong Il gets this kind of public adoration because his minions are afraid of torture and death for their whole families. Our Dear Leader's minions are afraid they might lose a job they're not qualified for, or they'll get yelled at in the grocery store. Call them out: they're fucking COWARDS!

Give the guy a break! He's Biden's age, and still sharp as a tack, sometimes! He passed person-man-woman-camera-tv, and the test with outlines of elephants and giraffes and shit. Top scores! And he was up at 3am tweeting random shit at everyone. That's exhausting.

In this government, Jesus has left the building. I'm not religious, and I don't believe in supernatural good or evil. I think what we see in Trump, and Stephen Miller, Mike Johnson, and the whole Republican party is human greed, lust for power, and go-along-to-get-along like in Nazi Germany.

Dems, of which I am one, will always find a way to step on our dicks. It's what we do.

I'm glad to see Schumer and Jeffries actually fighting, but it's time for new leadership, more non-NYC leadership.

And Lee, a supposed "constitutional conservative", was on right-wing short lists for a spot on SCOTUS. Lee seems even loonier than the conservatives currently on the Court, except Thomas and Alito.

Right-wing reactionary religious nuts like Mike Lee see their influence dwindling, so they lash out.

Good ideas, and not to get too defensive, but this boomer has been voting green for decades. Same as many boomers. The cohort that worries me most are the 20-30 y.o. men who worship Trump and Musk and the Barstool Sports dildos, etc. Plenty of short-sighted morons in any age group.
