Oh I'm sorry Nate, I didn't realize that about Floppy. The daily pictures and videos are a nice memorial for a handsome cat.

My boys look like this too after playing the snow but they shed their snowsuits and leave them to dry by the wood stove. Kitty however has to thaw in his own.

Thanks, I'll revisit Tumblr. Last time I was there I had zero traction met nobody and nobody ever saw me. The platform was at an all-time low point. That was just before they sold out to Automattic.

I can't tell if I'm getting anywhere here yet. It's so quiet. Tumblr may be worth a try for backup.

To me it seems like mostly try-hards rage baiting because they think they're being edgy. A prob here is the char limit. It inhibits meaningful conversation.

What is tumblr like these days? More lively than here? Any good for artists/photogs? Tried yrs ago but was dead back then so I never stayed.

Great catch. I have attempted this with dragonflies too when testing focus tracking on a new camera, but never locked on as nicely as that.

Ice storms are the most pretty to photograph but the worst to live through. Been through a number of them here. Last year was without power for 2 weeks while temps were sub-zero. Not fun. Our forest still looks like a bomb hit it. I hope the people down south don't get hit so hard.

It's just here. You won't find such deranged hate for homeschool anywhere else online. They screech the loudest for attention here but don't represent a rational or truthful perspective. The reality is more people than ever are in favour of homeschooling and are doing it well.

Just realized I've been an Otter here for a month but hadn't yet shared a picture of any of our backyard pond otters. We usually see them in the summer but also sometimes during winter when the ice isn't too thick.

Good point. Apparently Eskimos developed internal combustion engines fuelled by wood bits but their cars and snowmobiles would only ever start on very cold days.

Sad to hear about Abu Garcia closing in Sweden. As a family of avid fishermen we've used a lot of their gear.

A convenient thing about raising kids in the far north during winter: When you drop them off to play somewhere you can return 5 minutes later or hours later and find them in exactly the same spot where you dropped them. This does not work at all during summer.

Finally, this explains what happened to all the trees in the Arctic and Antarctica. One day it got cold and they just sploded.

Wow, I've seen waxwings eating berries but this is the first time I've seen one, or any bird, eat petals!

To be honest, I have to buy starter mix too now. In compost/triple mix, had a problem with damping off and was losing 50% or more of seedlings so I switched to a seed starter mix which has made a big difference (Pro-Mix Mycorrhizae). Now losses are minimal. Good luck with your starts🌶️.
