Why do I put off writing? When I'm actually focused and doing it, it's great. Today I've already done close to 3,500 words. Is it hard? Yes. Is it enjoyable? Also yes. Really need to get better about putting writing first. It's worth the effort, it's enjoyable, and I'm good at it.

A very small percentage of the population is born psychic (though this doesn't allows present right away). Other people study magic (the different is that you ARE psychic, but you PRACTICE magic and manipulate it though non-innate means). Everyone is allowed to magic, but few do.

Smears of charnel ichor coating antediluvian vistas of cyclopean scale I can stomach, but I draw the line at purple prose that is clearly meant to be deep, artsy, or flowery.

I've been reading/binging a ton of pulpy/classic weird tales and horror stories, and then clicked on a "horror story" from a very MFA-esque and literary magazine. The whiplash from reading the first paragraph was like being hit in the head by a 2-by-4.

Same! I can imagine exactly what happens, but then I have to translate that into text.

Telling stories? Easy.
Writing them down in actual sentences? Nearly impossible.
My brain is a movie… my hands are dial-up internet.

Handmaid's Tale, because if we accept the premise that the whole thing was kicked off by a fertility crisis, you would not run your dystopia like that (Why do they give fertile dissidents and nuns the option of going to the toxic waste dump? Why do they sterilize women sent to Jezebels? Etc etc).

All three! SpyxFamily is good if you like action-comedy and slice-of-life and Shadows House is a great supernatural cat-and-mouse mytsery. Yotsuba is also slice of life, and is frankly adorable, and is more episodic than the other two.

Yes! Currently SpyxFamily and Shadows House, and the Brigadoon-esque Yotsubato! chapter whenever one comes out.

It's bad when your current read causes you -1 psychic damage per second. It's worse when the current read is for a book club you're running and you can't DNF it ;-;

which in turn means that the community bought it.

In other words, library books are not lost sales for authors and publishers; they’re positive sales. Active sales. Those are bought.
