there's always going to be people who take advantage of chaotic situations.

there'll always be scammers on multiple ends.

the point remains that money sent directly to individuals is more helpful than money sent to aid organizations that aren't even in the fucking area

really easy to figure this out:

someone is asking you for money on the street. they could be about to go spend it on drugs or they could use it to feed their kids. you cannot ask them what they're going to do with it.

do you give them the money.
