Big congratulations to my student Dr. Jonathan Rub who did an amazing job at his thesis defense. Presenting a new cross-species single cell integration deep learning algorithm (doi.org/10.1101/2024...). Big thanks to his co-mentor Tuomas Tammela and committee members Christina Leslie & Ping Chi.

Identifying Age‐Modulating Compounds Using a Novel Computational Framework for Evaluating Transcriptional Age RNAge is a transcriptional based computational approach to measure changes in cellular age upon experimental manipulation. In silico screening of a database of transcriptional changes from drug pertu....

Our recent paper in #AgingCell with @studerl.bsky.social where we identify age inducing compounds for improved modeling of neurodegeneration.

Big congratulations to Chao Zhang (now PI at Boston University) and Nathalie Saurat (now PI at Monash University) who led this work.

The only way forward, that I can see, requires both courage and collective action. If we’re not going to fight for our students and our scholarship, then what the hell are we doing anyway?

A deep-learning tool for species-agnostic integration of cancer cell states.

I'm very excited to share our latest preprint from our very talented student Jonathan Rub and close collaborators Tuomas Tammela and Jason Chan (from @mskcancerceter.bsky.social). A variational autoencoder framework for single cell cross-species integration. doi.org/10.1101/2024...

Ageing limits stemness and tumorigenesis by reprogramming iron homeostasis - Nature Studies using mouse models of lung adenocarcinoma identify an association between age, iron homeostasis and tumour initiation potential that involves NUPR1 and lipocalin-2.

New in @natureportfolio.bsky.social from the Tuomas Tammela Lab: how aging suppresses tumorigenesis and stemness in the lung by promoting functional iron insufficiency in the alveolar epithelium. Interestingly, this renders aged cells resistant to ferroptosis. #OncSky www.nature.com/articles/s41...
