This suicide awareness month I’d like something to be clear: self-identification of Autism reduces suicide risk and increases efficacy of psychotherapy. Individuals must behave responsibly for optimal wellness, but invalidation of self-identification only serves to further oppress and harm us.

Amalia Levi's "layers of information in an archival document”:
-What is said
-What is not said
-What is alluded to
-What is omitted intentionally (and unintentionally)
-What is misleading
-What is ambiguous
-What is highlighted
-What is downplayed
-What is weaponized
-What is unintelligible today

I started reading and I can’t stop. I wasn’t this awestruck by a short text form in a very long time.

Just Asking Questions

Example from Parks & Rec

"I'm not saying that Leslie Knope is a dog-murderer, per se. But it does raise some questions. Like is she a dog-murderer?"

Example from NY Times interview of JD Vance when asked if Trump lost in 2020

- "Did big technology companies censor a story that independent studies have suggested would have cost Trump millions of votes?" Mr. Vance replied.

The just asking questions effect from @irahyman.bsky.social & @maddyjalbert.bsky.social. Simply asking a question can imply that there is doubt about a conclusion or event ("I'm not saying Leslie Knope is a dog murderer but it does raise some questions like is she a dog murderer?") #sarmac2025 2/

Wanna see something cool?

At the Grammy's in 1976, Ella Fitzgerald and Mel Torme explained what jazz is.

The result? The crowd losing its mind. πŸ”₯

"WE'VE ARRANGED A society based on science and technology, in which nobody understands anything about science technology. And this combustible mixture of ignorance and power, sooner or later, is going to blow up in our faces. Who is running the science and technology in a democracy if the people don't know anything about it?"
"Science is more than a body of knowledge, it's a way of thinking. A way of skeptically interrogating the universe with a fine understanding of human fallibility. If we are not able to ask skeptical questions, to interrogate those who tell us that something is true, to be skeptical of those in authority, then we're up for grabs for the next charlatan, political or religious, who comes ambling along."

I think a lot about what Carl Sagan said in one of his final interviews.

You can always tell when something upsets Trump by when he fixates on it. The way Trump can’t stop posting about @vanhollen.senate.gov means this hit him where it hurts. More, please and thank you.

Since we’re all talking about it I want to blow up a real female space pioneer, Mae Jemison, an actual astronaut. She’s a graduate of Stanford and Cornel Medical School, served in the peace corps, started an educational nonprofit, and worked for the CDC researching vaccines. That’s a woman in space

I admit I was busy with other stuff but it strikes me now that there was a moment where β€œsocial networks” began to be called β€œsocial media” (which is a very different dynamic and intent) and now we oftentimes need to find other tools to build actual social networks

I've been getting a lot of requests for a grand SF map for a while and I agree, it's time!

One more break: This is the kind of thing where we need more independent or even citizen journalism. CNN and the NYT won't cover something like this. But it's these kinds of stunts that might keep us from fascism.
