Israel’s new “agreement” with Hamas isn’t a peace deal, it’s a tactical pause. Troops remain inside Gaza, “repositioned,” not withdrawn. Netanyahu says they’ll still “act against threats.” Hostages will return to Israel, but peace isn’t next. It’s waterfront property for Trump.

In case anyone was wondering, “Give us your land or we will bomb you and take it” is not a peace deal; it’s extortion by artillery. A peace deal requires consent.

2022 was a relief that LNP were gone. The Labor gently, gently approach up to 2025 was almost forgiveable, if the win in 2025 brought bold, brave government. They said they needed more than one term. They got a huge win and an opposition in the death throes. If they cant be brave now, then when?

Ms. Machado is a Trump ally who has suggested foreign military intervention in Venezuela, and privatization of the state oil company to the benefit of a wealthy few, like her family. She previously supported a short-lived military coup against democratically elected socialist president Hugo Chavez.

Any "peace" deal in Gaza involving Donald Trump and Benjamin Netanyahu is worthless. Two genocidal murderers who practice dishonesty as a profession.

Remember, Israel killed people almost every day of the last "ceasefire," then unilaterally violated it as soon as they had achieved their objectives.

We should all be happy for any progress toward a cessation of hostilities in Gaza and especially for the release of the surviving hostages. That said: editors and writers need to be clear a temporary ceasefire is not a "peace" deal. What we're talking about is phase one of a multiphase plan.

And before any rusted-on Labor supporter jumps in to say “at least they’re better than the Coalition”, that argument is exactly the problem.
Landing somewhere between terrible and even worse is... not “about right”.
