Totally agree that diseases should be more common in rpgs. I’m in a DG campaign right now where our first mission was investigating an alien fungal infection. Totally changes how you play, constantly taking pains to minimize risk of infection, but in a very fun way imo

Where do expressionist games fall on the spectrum of narrative authority division? By which I mean, do players have the ability to influence the world on a meta level beyond the bodies and direct physical actions of their characters (via mechanics such as metacurrencies, FITD-style flashbacks, etc)?

I also feel that this has a certain amount of overlap with Halloween's High Trad and Sam Sorenson's New Simulationism, although not quite the same thing.

Baller post that maybe synthesizes 2 disparate and (so I previously thought) contradictory fixations I've had with RPGs:

1.) "simulationism"
2.) beliefs, emotions, the various psychological quirks people have that compel them to behave in non-"optimal" ways (why is it so hard to clean the house?)
