Why isn’t β€œthe WH is pushing Nazi propaganda” a story?

Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson’s dissent hits the target. She is reminding us of the stakes in this case. And she is spot on.

need to see sources/methods before I take this number for a fact--but it's a really exciting number. Alt NPS says in the comments, "Estimates were based on reports from over 1,600 events nationwide. More than 21,000 coalition members traveled across the country to volunteer and help monitor safety at each location. These volunteers worked closely with local authorities to assess crowd sizes. Their reports were compiled and added together to arrive at the overall participation estimate."

Yesterday was incredible. The official count is in β€” 5.2 million people joined the #HandsOff protest nationwide. So many are asking: what’s next? Mark your calendars: 4/19 is the next nationwide day of protest. Let’s go even bigger β€” our goal is to get 3.5% of America in the streets. Some media outlets are reporting only β€œtens of thousands” participated, but that’s no accident. Downplaying the turnout is a tactic to suppress momentum. But you were there. You saw the crowds. Even small red-district towns showed up in force. Don’t let them rewrite the story. It was a historic day β€” and we’re just getting started. We are proud of all of you β€” for many, this was your first protest, and you showed up with strength and purpose. Thank you to all the local authorities who helped keep everyone safe, and to the many military members and off-duty officers who attended and monitored the situation. Keep your signs, make new ones, and start preparing now. Let’s make history again on 4/19.

It wasn't ten million yesterday, but it was a hell of a lot.

I’m also very curious about what tennis people know about Bill Ackman who’s funding the PTPA. Because a lot of things then start to make sense.

Say it with me: Trump won a *plurality* of the vote. Not a majority. Most people who showed up this election voted for someone other than Donald Trump.

Yes, he won. Yes, we have lots of work to do. But treating his agenda like some inevitable tsunami plays right into his hands.

At the end of the day this election went the way it did because VERY rich people used their power and influence to create a universe of false information that directly fed people's most wretched impulses (racism, sexism, xenophobia) and exploited their ignorance.

That's the sum of it.

EVERY STORY ABOUT TRUMP LYING ABOUT THE ELECTION SHOULD NOTE THAT HE WAS INDICTED BY A GRAND JURY FOR LYING ABOUT THE LAST ELECTION AND DIDN'T FACE JUSTICE BECAUSE HIS ALLIES ON THE SUPREME COURT REWROTE THE CONSTITUTION

Been meaning to post this. One thing I've learned firsthand is that one big way of ending polarization is killing partisan gerrymandering as dead as possible. Pre-new maps, I was all in on negative partisanship, Bitecofer-style. Still believe in hitting hard but also leaving room open to persuasion.

This thread acts as a bit of a reminder of just how much we've memory holed about that administration, and occurs to me one of the cool things about taking lots of notes is ... it was a lot crazier than we remember. Like ... a *lot* crazier

The craziest shit for me is that there's an audio recording of Donald Trump asking for Georgia officials to "find votes" in 2020 and he's running now. How is that not instantly disqualifying? We HEARD him. Not Meadows. Not Giuliani. How is asking officials for votes (with proof) not instant jail?

As we recall Menendez’s foreign-influence bribe story and contemplate Eric Adams’s (alleged) misdeeds in the same vein, it might be a very, VERY good idea for @nytimes.com, @washingtonpost.com, @cnn.com et al. to revisit the Egyptian $10 million campaign contribution/bribe paid to one Donald Trump.

It sounds cliche but it isn’t: this is absolutely the must-read story of the day. It kills me that this exists and we’ll almost certainly never see it, the more so because this is not simply a hagiography. (Edelman directed _OJ: Made in America_, it should be noted.)
