Cold City: an excellent focused #ttrpg of horror, paranoia, and semi-coop investigation. In post WW2 Berlin, PCs each represent a different nation pushed together to investigate dark, dinghy paranatural mysteries. I've not checked 2e but will be doing so off the back of my appreciation for 1e.

one of my favorite takes in the D&D setting MIDNIGHT - which is essentially "a century after Sauron's triumph, he is engaged in mopping up operations before he storms Heaven" is that even the orcs have done the math and are starting to wonder what happens to _them_ after the Leader's big win.
