11.12.2025 18:22 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0As we marvel at the insanity that is Disneys zillion dollar decision to destroy their own IP, there are artists and writers right now making original work with their own hands, brains, and hearts who would love a review (free), a referral (free), or a request from your local library (also free).
11.12.2025 18:21 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Review of I’m a Little Brain Dead 5 stars I laughed out loud… about a book about a stoke. Besides the wry satirical voice that entertains from beginning to end, this book not only takes the reader inside the experience of having a stroke, it reveals much about the medical establishment and critiques how hospitals treat patients. Since I am dealing with this as an advocate for a family member, I found it utterly relatable. I also found the idiosyncrasies of “Lovely Hubby” and the marital arguments really well observed and funny. The self deprecating humor is worthy of a standup show. Highly recommend. Surrounded by the graphics of the Amazon website review section.
One of my favorite early reviews of I’m a Little Brain Dead 💀 🖤

In all seriousness, it’s odd for them to make a move that doesn’t make them money. I do not understand what’s going on here.
I had a lengthy conversation in a book club about SGJs back catalog with someone who insisted that he followed up his “debut” of TOGI too quickly with My Heart is a Chainsaw.
Or maybe if I’m being honest - I gave a lecture on the reality of the writing vs publishing timeline.
I’m going to assume we are not talking about pyrokinesis here. And then I’m going to ask you not to explain any further.

Thanks Eryn! I am happy to say my tiny little shop has been restocked with horror: Revolve and Next Door have 13 stories in each, and I’d love to introduce folks to my stories while the novel is in the works.
Always fun #horrorseiterschat

I’m going with a non-fic answer for Q4: Time changes when we listen to a song. New song, we’re here. Old song, we’re taken back to earlier versions of ourselves.

Thanks for another great chat! Need a holiday gift for the slow-burn horror fans on your list? Then perhaps consider Little White Flowers. Not a Christmas book at all, but it does have a Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer reference 😂

Most songs I’ve listened to that are designed to ruin us are camp songs, so when I first heard them I was singing along trying to ruin people’s ears, day, existence.
It’s fair to say my horror work is an attempt to ruin people. I like it if my stuff sticks in your brain.
Q3 #horrorwriterschat
Nope. I adore music & musicians & lyrics & all the stories they contain, I’ve written lyrics for songs in my plays & even the book for a musical, but I haven’t translated a song into writing. Reactions to music, yes. That’s about as close as I get. If I’m understanding Q3

My use of sound is very specific, I don’t use it often so when it’s there it’s serving a purpose (as compared to say background or a set up of the environment). I’m pretty sensitive to sound so that may be why I use it sparingly.
Q2 #horrorwriterschat
Hello #horrorwriterschat - I’m Kimberly Davis Basso I write horror filled stories about ordinary things.
I do not listen to music while physically writing, though I do sometimes listen to music to inspire writing, as part of the process, same way I look at art.

Nice to see this little lovely is still finding new readers. It was after all dedicated to my uterus and don’t we all owe a debt to someone’s uterus?
10.12.2025 02:14 — 👍 1 🔁 1 💬 0 📌 0Odd experience right now reading a woman character written by a man. It’s a romance (woman & man) so yes I expect descriptions of hotness. Don’t expect the woman to be describing the looks of every other woman in the story. Now skipping the first paragraph when a new character shows up.

10.12.2025 02:14 — 👍 1 🔁 1 💬 0 📌 0Reviews are the lifeblood of indie authors.
In the last few years, reviews have trickled to a near standstill, which creates a conundrum: need readers to get reviews, but need reviews to get readers.
If you take the time to write even a single sentence review, YOU ARE AMAZING THANK YOU I LOVE YOU
So flipping good.
