It’s #FridayReads on Friday the 13th! Let’s share books. Repost this and let us know what to repost for you. Here’s a little boricua monster full of vengeance, friendship, bad decisions, murder, Santería, and ghosts.

So I am delayed, even as the host: I had to read to 8 and then to 11! Thank goodness for the new draft posts that I set up earlier on.
So, hi, I'm Eryn, and I mostly write supernatural and psychological horror. I like to look at the edges of wrongness.

At the risk of repeating my last answer, my research requires reading a lot of horrific stuff and I have to take breaks because it is frankly too much.

I have a novel length story that weaves many things happening right now and as happens when I am writing very close to reality I have to take breaks, because my research makes me sick.

Greetings #HorrorWritersChat
I'm Mary from Greater Manchester (UK), where I write cosmic, gothic, and Weird horror with themes of transformation, sacrifice, revenge, and acceptance.
I'm drawn to these subgenres because they allow me to explore my themes in deeper, stranger ways.
Plus: tentacles.

Hi there #HorrorWritersChat! I’m A.C. and I write a wide variety of horror. I love it all so much, I try not to limit myself to one subgenre or anything. I think that’s one of the things that draws me to horror: the creativity and flexibility of horror. Also the escapism.

#HorrorWritersChat My name is Rosé Black. I write horror and horror comedy. What draws me to it? Humor in tense times, I suppose.

Hello #horrorwriterschat I’m Kimberly, I am drawn to horror because there are questions I have that cannot be explored through my humor writing.

There’s a prompt on my book challenge called “Book Interrupted” for a book that you start, stop, repeat & for me that’s pretty much everything I’ve tried to read in the past year. StoryGraph is a great alternative to big retailers who want to track your “puppy.”

Most of my characters are not lovely people and basically treat the body as a takeout container for bone and sinew, or a means to carrying around an unreliable brain. Cravings are also problematic.

My stories have a tight focus & characters are often trapped in some way. There’s never room my tales for every last detail, I know what they are, exactly how the characters move through the space, each room, the layout, furniture, the light, temperature, ambient sounds.

Hey #horrorwriterschat I’m Kimberly. I don’t think about sub genres too much, feels like they slice things too thin. I want to be in the “Staff Pick” category in bookstores, that’s the shelf I go for first.

This is a photo of a paperback copy of The Atrocities by me (Jeremy C. Shipp). The book is resting on grass and there are white petals strewn about on the grass and on the cover. The cover features a creepy old manor house, storm clouds, and a hedge maze.
Hey Bluesky peeps, could you help spread the word?
My Shirley Jackson Award-nominated gothic fiction book THE ATROCITIES is on sale today for $1.99 on Kindle and Bookshop. I have no idea how long this sale will last.

A national general strike is needed not just to protest the violence, but to acknowledge the absurdity that we’re all just supposed to carry on with our stupid little daily lives amidst the ambient terrorism of an unchecked state militia executing innocent people in the streets of our country.
