Should artistic intent supersede the player's personal experience of the game? What if the original controls interrupt or directly prevent a player's ability to play the game (i.e. accessibility vs artistic intent)? Alternatively, what if the final product does not match the developers' intent?

What exactly does the prompt consider "changing the controls" within this discussion? Is it including or excluding different form factors (e.g. keyboard vs gamepad vs alt. controls) or strictly speaking about button-layout?

over the wizard's shoulder we see the scroll. in a scroll like chat bubble, the wizard thinks: "and yet... i can't stop scrolling."
on the scroll is a wizard in a tik tok like format with a title that says "get ready with me to try the viral goblin challenge!"

So, about those vampire games, do you have any you'd recommend to someone without any background in them without hesitation?

It was also weird. If I'm not mistaken, last week had a seasonal challenge to play Rift, but Rift isn't in the Portal Crucible right now. It's still possible to play, but it should have transferred over. The recolored armor for Ash and Iron was also kinda disappointing, but I like new armor perks

They should definitely bring over more of the "unlisted" modes back into the game. I want to be able to play Heavy Metal or SRL any time I want. The lack of diverse game-modes is definitely a problem. Gambit seems forgotten by the Portal

I'm inclined to agree to disagree on the subject of banning players for using non-game breaking exploits.

I haven't really asked anyone, so I don't know the general consensus about the state of pvp, but what do you dislike about it at the moment (aside from the Slashening since I know that opinion)

18.09.2025 00:07 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

At the same time, when you report someone, it categorizes and defines exploiting as something separate from cheating. If they thought it was seriously game breaking, it's not, then Bungie wouldn't have extended the players' ability to use the bug.

17.09.2025 23:37 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

I would define "game breaking" as something that causes the game to fall into an unplayable state.

For example, a glitch corrupting your save file or a bug locking your progression through a game because an item disappeared.

17.09.2025 23:16 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Since it's not game breaking, I think it's neat y'all have decided to let the bug stay around a little longer. It could be a little community thing too.

I've hardly encountered it in Iron Banner, but also it's not hard to avoid given the dominance of long-range combat.

17.09.2025 22:21 β€” πŸ‘ 2    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 2    πŸ“Œ 0

Just for my own understanding, could you show me Bungie's rule against the use of exploits please?

I don't agree w/your opinion on exploiting being flat-out cheating. I'd make the argument that it's on a case-by-case basis.

17.09.2025 22:12 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

I didn't mean to ignore your question in my earlier reply, but I don't think Bungie should ban people for using exploits generated from bugs. The player is simply using the system as presented to them, so I don't view it as cheating. It would be entirely different if players were hacking.

17.09.2025 04:43 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Is there an explicit rule against using exploits generated from in-game bugs? From my understanding of the COC/Ban Policies, players won't be banned for discovering an exploit. If it doesn't break the game experience, then no harm done. Plus they make the rules and decreed "enjoy The Slashening"

17.09.2025 04:37 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Genuinely, why should Bungie ban people for exploiting a bug that's being hot-fixed the following morning? I'd understand banning if players were genuinely cheating by doing something on their end, but this is happening because Bungie let it slip into the game.

I'm getting mixed messages about whether inert SIVA is useful or not useful to the Conductor.

To be fair, how many times has something or someone been destroyed or killed and later brought back?

Imagine if they let us customize our heavy vehicles too! I'd choose a House of Light-themed Eliksni walker - those spider tanks.

No. They should expand on Heavy Metal. More vehicles, maps, and soundtrack.

I'm trying to learn more within my field of study, but there seems to be incoming barriers of inaccessibility now that I'm post-undergrad. There's the imminent event of my college email getting closed keeping me from scholarly sources and the sheer price of academic books. Frustrating stuff

I'd have to disagree based on the timeframe of 15-20 years ago. In 2010, there were tons of online games available wanting your attention. What changed is the amount of content available in the base game / more MTX. You could earn more content in base than what's given in today's battle-passes.

I think Heavy Metal should become a permanent game mode, but with a few additions. New maps, more vehicles, and a larger variety of songs. Team Brig! The closest thing to playable Eliksni lol

For EX, try to suggest text-heavy video games for those who prefer that experience. Alternatively, find a way to incentivize reading as an experience for these folks through community events - I think some libraries do similar things with children during summer vacations. Make it worth their time.

This is a hard question, for multiple reasons, but also because there's so much I want to say about possible avenues to take. The biggest thing is actually getting them to read - regardless of the format - as long as it engages them with critical thinking.

To elaborate on the 1st point, I grew up with Accelerated Reader (AR) which quizzed you on the books you read & rewarded you with points. It gamified reading. The points system also favored larger more complicated books. A few of my elementary classes turned this into a competition too.

As part of the older half of Gen Z, who got to witness a handful of the younger half grow-up, I would say: 1) There's a lack of incentive to read compared to when I learned to read; and 2) many parents trade books for screens.

AI impoverishes us at every step of the process:
- data centers pollute our environment
- energy use drives up costs
- content theft robs creators of income
- the actual output is used to displace workers and depress wages
- using it harms our mental health and impairs our competence
- the flood of AI slop is damaging our sociopolitical landscape

All in service of making a worse product - and world - to enrich a handful of already spectacularly wealthy people

While defending the luddite argument in Discord, I stumbled into this IMO succinct explanation for opposing generative AI:

At every step in the process, it impoverishes us.

I've been thinking about something similar too!

If we could combine MiniDisc with UMD, and newer optical media capabilities, it would be perfect. It makes technology seem optimistic and for the consumer rather than corporate and dystopian
