But despite that reality, we can still maintain, and train, and show up every day. We can find fulfillment in just doing the work. And build a life outside of the work. So if (when) our shot comes, we have all the tools to stand toe to toe with the champ and know we gave it our all.

Okay something I love about ROCKY (I love many things about the whole franchise) is that Rocky never earns his shot. Apollo just likes the name “Italian Stallion” and the framing of fighting an Italian for a bicentennial exhibition. No choice is made on skill alone in any industry.
