Large locked gates on the pedestrian and cycle route between Pool Rd and Carpenters Rd in Stratford.

The new cycle path on Pool Rd in the Olympic park diverts you towards gates that are locked when West Ham play in the stadium. This seems to happen every time I decide to go that way, this was Sunday.

London’s Smithfield and Billingsgate markets find new home in Docklands City of London corporation names Albert Island near City airport in Docklands for meat and fish markets

Let's hope they keep the riverside path and maybe even upgrade it, the main road through there is a car sewer. This could connect Becton to North Woolwich with safe walking and cycling routes. @londoncycling.bsky.social @carolinerussell.bsky.social

Amy knows the answer is "it wasn't discussed", everyone watching knows the answer is "it wasn't discussed". Trump is a child, you don't get a child to behave well be reminding them of the bad stuff they enjoy doing.

I see them as a country of extremes, there are really bad ideas and really good ideas at the same time. Where the people pushing for change have the polar opposite to inspire the fight.

I wonder if there is a historical connection to Eastway, a road that runs parallel with the east-cross-route in Hackney.

Hmmm "However he also said, entirely correctly, that the crucial part of the project wasn't the idea of a linear route - after all, there aren't that many people who want to cycle from London to Birmingham and on to Manchester" there would be if the route existed.

Trekie and Spekie as they are known are my daily transport, I swap depending on weather. Both have been touring in the past. Trekie has been almost completely rebuilt at this stage but I love the frame (and the lifetime warranty) so on it goes.

The U.K’s guilty men want you to forget that the 2008 bankers’ crisis, 14 years of austerity, Brexit, and Covid failures are the cause of our woes.

Instead, they want you to think renewable energy, which costs your household 47p a day, is the problem.

They think you’re idiots.

Rachel Reeves will freeze fuel duty to dodge β€˜political suicide’ The chancellor will also highlight a rise in the minimum wage and plans to cut energy bills as she tries to win over voters by focusing on cost of living

Since 2011 the fuel duty freeze has cost the Treasury Β£133 billion.

This huge amount could have paid for lower train and bus fares, better stations, safer walking, wheeling and cycling and much more!

When can you declare an emergency over?

The 5p β€œemergency” petrol tax cut was introduced in March 2022, to offset a spike in prices

They are now about 30p down on that month, & about 50p down on the absolute peak

Reeves looks set to keep the "emergency" fuel duty cut.

That's Β£3bn a year not being spent to improve public transport.

Funny too the one thing planned in London she backs (though not funding) is the worst in the capital - the Thamesmead DLR extension which hinders more new homes than it helps

About as bad as it gets. People driving into deers resulting in their own deaths is framed as 'deers killing people'.

Why we - and the Home Secretary - disapply the ECHR at our peril By Jessica Frank-Keyes

As Labour proposes limiting the protection of the ECHR, we must remember what it was set up to do; protect us all from abuses of power by our govts.
Be v wary then of anyone calling to do that. You may not be the target now. But why shouldn’t you be next?

Saw this earlier. The Newham Greenway will be closed by Thames Water for 3 years. There's no mention of who is closing it or for how long on the signs. The proposed detour is going to kill people and the council is silent.

With the larger sizes I've found the best shrinking method is a hair drier on full power with the wedge type nozzle to restrict the heat to where you need it. It shrinks evenly at a controllable speed.

I need to get some pics of my led lighting project, led tape attached to a stiff card base, I used clear heat-shrink tubing, and then self-amalgamating tape to waterproof the ends. I have two 20cm lengths on the rear rack and a single strip on the front of the bike. I'm working on side lighting now.
