The response to Wicked reminds me of the Welsh when we win a Grand Slam. The fact that people’s talents have been recognised, nurtured, respected and supported - then played at its best.
Musical theatre often feels like the underdog in the hierarchy of the arts.
This is a huge win for our team!

Now to wait for Part 2. After seeing how Part 1 ended it makes complete sense to do it in 2 parts. How on earth could any film keep going after Defying Gravity??

So many big budget musical films have felt the need to compromise on some part of the work, be it casting, orchestrations, choreography, CGI (!), but in every aspect this took what was onstage and grew it into something so worthy of the big screen. It is superbly done.

Wicked. Was SO GOOD. I can't really put into words how it felt to watch a piece of Musical Theatre on film that was such a love letter to musicals (don't think I didn't get some of those Evita/Chicago easter eggs and others!)
