Bioinformatics field is growing so fast that it's almost imposible to keep up. It's overwhelming but exciting at the same time! It got me thinking about all things I'd like to learn and the little time I have πŸ₯² It's so hard to choose one area to focus on! How are we doing it?

I've been reflecting a lot these days about the role of creativity in science, how we're not though of as creative people because we work with numbers and logic... I left some of my thoughts in this post if anyone's interested πŸ₯°β€οΈ

Super excited to share this news! πŸ₯³I've been participating in the biggest bioinformatics competition in Latin America 🧬 (LBB) with two of my lab mates.
We successfully completed the first two stages and now we're going to the finals which will be held in the Brazilian bioinfo conference in June! πŸ‡§πŸ‡·

Today I learned a valuable lesson. NEVER run OMAmer with the LUCA database on my own computer. HPCs exist for a reason and the reason found me and slapped the hell out of me. Rookie mistake out of laziness, can't lie (I had to make the meme, laugh out my disgrace)

I've been having deep thoughts about my research goals and how I ended up stuck between wanting to be a bioinformatician but being mostly formed to be a computational biologist. I feel like in Latin America we haven't talked enough about the differences, shouldn't we be discussing this a bit more?🧐
