Iowa is on the bye week this week.

Iowa State is in Cincinnati to take on the Bearcats. Temps warm quickly for any Cyclone fans tailgating at Nippert Stadium. The 11AM kick will have temps in the upper 70s, warming to the mid 80s by the end of the game.

Continue to see some elevated fire concerns over NW Iowa on Saturday. Wind gusts from the south could reach 40 mph. Coupled with dry conditions, wild fires could spread very quickly in the conditions at hand.

Ahhhhh. Potent cold front on the way to bring a refreshing change. High temps drop about 20 degrees from Sunday to Monday. Highs in the 60s will be common across Iowa early next week. #IAWX #MNWX

Friday's forecast is pointing at 90°. 90s in October are pretty rare! There are only 11 instances of 90°+ temps happening in October for the #DesMoines record book that dates back to 1878.

2 of those 11 happened in the last two years! We might make it three in a row! Impressive! #IAWX

Looking at a pretty stout setup that brings a decent chunk of wind into the Midwest either Saturday or Sunday. There's some differences in the data, but the signal is consistent to pop the south wind up ahead of an advancing cold front to follow. #IAWX #MNWX

Blocking pattern and some tropical systems are keeping IA weather stagnant. Especially watching Invest 94 in the Atlantic closely. Forecast trends continue to pull it closer to the Carolinas, if not making landfall. Will need to watch this one for significant rainfall.
