Seeing stats that 3 in 4 so called Australians want gambling ads stopped. I would go further and say to put even more barriers between people and gambling. Starting with getting rid of pokies. Then stopping any industry that runs purely to fuel gambling.

I came to Bluesky to get away from the brogliarchy and honestly, the despair I felt on socials. I came here and followed all of the same news sources as everywhere else. Then I felt despair here too. I want the community I had for years at the start of twitter. Recommend good humans to follow?

Of course I know my friends political beliefs. It’s a big red flag to not. My friends all know this, so it’s clearly not a problem.

We live in so called Australia where healthcare IS a human right. It is incredibly inhumane to kill people, that’s the whole point. People shouldn’t be killing civilians, in Palestine, or here.

The screeners are always so lovely, I am so grateful for them!

I was there for 6 minutes total.
This is a free service in Victoria, Australia if you are eligible.
If you are over 40 or have a family history of BC, please book in. I know too many young women being diagnosed with breast cancer.

There is pressure as the machine squashes your breast down flat, it can be a little painful, they will ask if you are okay. When they take the image, you will have to hold your breath and be completely still.

The breast is in the machine for 30-60 seconds. This happens 4 times.

Then you are free.

You will approach the machine, the screener will give great verbal instructions about how you need to position your body, and gently move your body, they will touch your breast to properly place it in the machine.

Entering the room you will have privacy (a side room, or a minute alone) to get undressed (just top half) and the screener will check your details.

Arrive, I always arrive to appointments 5 minutes early.

Check in with reception. They will just need your name to start.

You can ask for a gown here. I did this the first time, I don’t bother anymore.

On your first appointment (this isn’t my first time) you will have to fill out some paperwork. Often on your first time you may get a call back as they don’t have any scans to check your results against.

The other thing is seeing our Queer elders, especially our Gay elders that survived the AIDS epidemic, out partying, that being an elder is a privilege and that is celebrated 🥰

The two things I most love about Vic Pride existing are:
That there is this most magical and colourful safe space for people to express themselves exactly as they are. Seeing all types of people in all types of clothes (or lack there of), lots of bodies being celebrated in all of their glory.

So pleased that there is a chapter on race, because we all know that ADHD and Autism are mostly studied in white people. Non white children often automatically go into the naughty basket (or much worse) in the US where it has been studied the most, and here in so called Australia too.

Obviously it is about ADHD specifically. It is long, but not dry. There are loads of stats, but it also has humour. I think the thing I like best about it is that it is honest and it is human. If you read one book about ADHD, make this it.
