I did something similar once but for an SSD1331 display and in Javascript. The beauty was that Javascript and C share similar syntax, so it was stupidly easy to port the C driver to a web-based simulator.

I LOVED our Chrysler minivan. It got totaled when an ice chunk that fell off a semi in front of us ripped a hole in the oil pan. That thing hauled just about anything we ever needed it to, and with a small utility trailer it was unstoppable.

I feel incredibly fortunate to work in that sliver of overlap. But the economy is stacked against my company because 1) we don't really do AI, 2) our primary customers are schools, and 3) we assemble and mfg in the US, but many of our parts are imported (tariffs).

If you have a non-stick skillet, you can just use that on the stove. I have an old one just for this that I don't use for food. It's not perfect, but it works. Watch it closely and lift it up slowly from the heat once the solder wets. Its better than hot air for the really fine-pitch stuff.

I mean, why not write some code to filter out the "please", and give a canned response to "thank you"? If it uses too many resources maybe just do something intelligent about it? But instead, you choose to whine and tell people to be less kind? FFS.

Everyone needs to understand what Elon and DOGE are building, an AI driven panopticon that will know everything about you and will be used to ensure compliance with their fascist agenda. They are creating a unified database of everything the federal government has on every single American.

I haven't tested it, but it should work well. ;) Plus my board uses the larger memory and larger pin count version of the ATtiny, so you've got room to stretch!

It's up for sale! Grab yours today! The ATTINY PRO is a small-but-capable ATtiny3217 development board with a form-factor similar to a Pro Micro.

It's like the original Arduino board, but with the much better peripherals of the Tiny AVR 1 and 2 series.

Thanks! It was truly serendipity. And with all of the supply chain issues at the time, it was about the only thing that had consistent stock, which turned out to be a huge bonus.

The Raspberry Pi Pico came out just over 4 yrs ago. At the time, we had shelved a project we were building - it was good but we didn't love the boards we were using. When the Pico came out, we brought the project back & worked fast to finish it. Happy Pi Day / 4th Birthday make.playpiper.com !

Hi Electronics Bluesky! I made a new module for my Tindie store (and honestly, for me to use too!) It's a dev board based on the ATTINY 3217. It has an onboard CH340 for both programming via UPDI and for UART<>USB. I love these chips as I2C peripherals. Tindie.com/matzelectronics

I talk about race, openly and honestly. It's also what I do for a living, and while it can be uncomfortable for white bodied people to hear criticism aimed at white folks. If we are to move together as a society, it requires getting real and moving past the fragility.

New Tindie.com/stores/matzelectronics products in development! These are all capacitive-touch PCBs. Left one is a track pad, middle is a keypad, and right is an iPod-style rotary wheel.

Exactly. I'm trying to get something as cheap as I can that can at least visualize audio frequencies. Seeing if I can do a proof of concept for an ed-tech idea.

An oscilloscope connected to a breadboard that contains several op-amps and resistors.

Trying to design an input stage for an ESP-32 based scope. Haven't had to bust out my own scope in a while. It amazes me how quickly this analog stuff can get complicated! Just trying to attenuate and bias a range from +/- 5V to 0 to 3.3v, and I'm 4 op-amps deep.

This is so true. One of my favorite job things is PCBA design where we are purchasing in the 1000's. That usually gets the cost down below $5 per widget. When I'm doing them for myself, I aim for 25 on the first run if I'm really confident in the design, but the pricing difference can be insane.

I wish I could sell it for less...but oof 7-segment displays are not cheap if you can't buy them by the thousands.

7-Segment Clock Display by MatzElectronics on Tindie A four-digit 7-segment clock display with an I2C interface, white LEDs, and 0.9" tall digits.

I made a new thing! Here's a four digit 7-segment display module. It's nice and bright, and it's designed to be connected via I2C (STEMMA QT, QWIIC). Firmware is open source and written in Arduino so it's easy to modify to fit your needs.
