Today I introduced the Maryland Transit Administration Reform Act with Delegate Edelson.

A fully funded pension is a bit of an odd thing as we would never have to pay all of the benefits out at one time, but we should continue to march in that direction.

I am occasionally asked the niche question of how the state’s pension is doing, perhaps as a proxy for the state’s fiscal health. The pension is 73.5% funded, up from last year but down a bit from a recent high of 76.6%. The goal is full funding by 2045.

One of the more fun duties I have as a Delegate is calling bingo numbers at the Clara Barton Center in Cabin John each year. This is a community affected by the Potomac Interceptor sewage leak but it was nice to gather for a little fun.

For the second straight day, there have been no sewer overflows from the damaged pipe along Clara Barton Parkway. Crews have excavated around the damaged pipe, and work to clear the blockage begins tomorrow.

I had a meeting in the state treasury building this morning and they have some incredible District 16 art: Former Treasurer and Delegate Nancy Kopp, Glen Echo, Uncle Julio’s, and parts of Bethesda.
