What a wonderful evening at National Night Out yesterday! From Kensington, to Lyttonsville, to Downtown Silver Spring, and to Takoma Park — it’s always great to be in community and with community.

As we head into the school year, the Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services is offering free back-to-school vaccinations for school-aged children, from pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade, through the end of September.

At Africans for Mental Health, they’ve spent the last 8 years breaking the silence around mental health and, in partnership with Sheppard Pratt, have designed these trainings to equip community members with practical tools to help others.

Our population of residents 60 and older in Montgomery County is growing, with a projected population of 25% by 2030 — and I will be one of them! As someone who grew up in an intergenerational home, I know firsthand the value and contributions of our older adults and importance of aging in place.
