Just taking a minute to appreciate the magic of libraries. I ordered the book on the right from another branch in the province… bam, it shows up. I decide to look up books on conspiracy theories and disinformation — I had it within minutes.

This could be enough to cost someone a contract, mess up their reputation and prospects, or kicked out of a program (as has occurred) if taken seriously.

I’m currently in the middle of an article for a client — written with my own brain cells and source material. Because I’m a nerd I’ve been testing these tools I was curious how it would score in a popular detection app.

It came back as 33% AI generated.

This is creating major challenges for writers who can be accused of using AI when they’re not.

I realize there’s a major issue with academic dishonesty in universities because of AI tools, but the flip side is that students are also being accused of dishonesty with “proof” from these detectors.

AI “detectors” and their use are so frustrating. As a writer, if I’m creating organic content (meaning I’ve written it myself without use of a generative AI tool), many so-called AI-detectors flag significant portions of content as AI.
