Here's a thing that's true: My wife went to school with the Kardashians.

Coco Ichibanya in Japan offers a 20 point scale for their chicken katsu curry. Perhaps approach them to learn more about their methodology?

Another thread in the incestuous AI investment web: Lobbyists paying Meta for ads to try and astroturf public support for a new data centre.

Can $400k of digital attack advertising (and millions more on TV) stop the Mamdani juggernaut?

And a few months later that really blows up big, when the UK release dates for SNES games are months later than Japan/US, and the converters become available. I blew up the power on my SNES twice with one of those, playing US SFII (which I think cost me ยฃ90, plus another ยฃ40 for the converter).

And who is to say that isn't the plan?

So I'd still suggest the "leaked phonecall" is probably more powerful in the short term, because it's much harder to disprove one way or the other. And there are several other hoops deepfakes have to jump through as well (quality, distribution etc) - they're generally not doing it yet.

My nitpick is we're still in a world where things that didn't happen, didn't happen. E.g. there are enough non-party people following Simon Harris around during a campaign to say "that didn't happen". This is important, because deepfakes don't work if that's true. And Connolly didn't withdraw.

Chances of this sort of thing appearing in Reform marketing at some point in the next 6 months = v. high. Opponents should be asking them to commit not to, starting now.

Of course, the far right doesn't mind using AI to insert a specific image of black and Asian people into its marketing material (these examples from Geert Wilders' current election campaign).

that sounds like what would happen on a busy day. I suspect they might be able to get walk-on tickets if they were absolutely desperate and have no other option.

23.10.2025 09:26 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 1    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

But yeah, any sensible person gets to Rosslare at least an hour early, and any problems you can come up with will be solved in that time. It's just not that busy, even at the highest of high season.

The other experience of being late is Dover - Calais - there they don't care which boat you're actually on and just stick you on the next one, as long as you're not *wildly* late.

23.10.2025 07:46 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 1    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

My only experience of ticket not downloading to phone (though, as above, don't usually need the ticket) was France to Cork. We just pulled out of the queue and checked in at the ferry building, though would have been a problem if we were late (again, one boat every 3 days - don't be late).

23.10.2025 07:46 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 1    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

For late arrival, I think we had that once, but we were about 35 mins before departure and the advantage was no queues, you just drive up. The problem with Rosslare-Fishguard is there's only a couple a day (same for Rosslare-Pembroke) and they leave at the same time, so if you miss it, it's 12hrs.

23.10.2025 07:46 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 1    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

I think they check ID for everyone, but I can't remember (maybe blurring it with ferries to France). Then you're waved through and park in the lanes while you wait for boarding.

23.10.2025 07:46 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 1    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

I've only done it by car, but it's like any other ferry really. You get to Rosslare Europort, drive up to the window, they usually just scan your number plate and get your booking from that, but sometimes ask for a ref. They then ask how many passengers in the car, and do a quick head count.

Next time your EU flight is delayed, INSIST on your fax messages. (Someone should set up a fax number that anyone can send to when this happens, then write a book about the messages they get).

I was at a smallish Brussels meeting with him once (totally oblivious to his reputation) and people were ABSOLUTELY CRAPPING themselves beforehand, making sure all the chairs were squarely aligned, agreeing who was allowed to speak, "he's 90 seconds away" etc.

Meta and Googleโ€™s Ad Ban Upends Political Campaigning in Europe | TechPolicy.Press If the only people to truly benefit from change are the ones who present the greatest challenge to democracy, weโ€™re in a very bad place, writes Sam Jeffers.

We've a new piece in @techpolicypress.bsky.social on the decision by Meta and Google to ban political, social and issue-based ads in the European Union. It's a seismic shift for European campaigning, but there won't be any winners: www.techpolicy.press/meta-and-goo...
