Artist, animator, pixels and programming- games focus, but I can make more or less anything! Looking for permanent position with cool people.

OK THIS IS GOING TO BE INSANE BUT-
this is what I use if I have a desk, not curled up on the couch. I use too much pressure for anything with any give in it. And the hardcore ones all cost about the same as this anyway.

07.08.2025 06:48 โ ๐ 14 ๐ 2 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Highschool chemistry class we were warned never to wear the cheap uniform sprayjackets in the lab because the material would catch fire and melt at the same time, fusing it and adhering it to our flesh and burning us inches deep while we howled fumes into our lungs.
13.07.2025 03:19 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Weird thought, if the field of illustration really doesn't matter to you, (certainly not enough to pay an illustrator)- maybe just use photos? They look professional, and it's even quicker than generation- AND won't leave characters with different numbers of fingers or wrong-length arms!
03.07.2025 04:42 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0(Bit strange to delete the post celebrating your 'artist' by the way. Doesn't seem all that comfortable after all.)
03.07.2025 04:33 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Cool, my only goal is to inform. If I was making wildly unethical and reputation-harming choices in the bioinformatic field I'd hope you'd let me know.
So long as you're informed about the choice you're making, there's not much else anyone can do to stop you, like the choice to eat a urinal cake.
I hear you, and I do understand the reasoning- it FEELS like the convenience of clipart.
But you would know that presentation matters. Like I said, the analogy is to comic sans typeface etc. Besides other concerns around ethics, IP ownership etc. It looks *broadly* incompetent.
I strongly suspect this, and other images on this acc. are generated rather than illustrated.
Without any malice at all- the use of AI image generation deeply discredits anything worthwhile you have to say in any field.
It screams incompetence the same way a comics sans logo typeface might.
Great! Who did the artwork?

23.06.2025 13:28 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0The alternative is to do nothing at all- and that gets old fast!
You got this. Whatever the result (some of mine HAVE been shit) it's a victory vs this feeling.
I always tell myself-
Any new scary thing I am working on may *indeed* be shit- it's even LIKELY to be shit - but if that's the case I won't ever be good at it until I do some shit ones.
Which doesn't always feel like, kind to say to myself, but it feels realistic and manageable.
Weโre gonna leave the games industry better than we found it ๐ค

That Sexy bear has just 12 DAYS LEFT on Kickstarter, and it's nowhere near close to funding! It would be a shame if this strange and wonderful book never got to see the light of day. Maybe take a look and see if you could give it a little support?

I'd be using it more myself for grown-up work, but their brush algorithm is a bit bare bones :/
08.05.2025 10:30 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Rough Animator is a nice lightweight stepping stone from baby stuff towards a more professional kit!
The only hard difference for a kid is an abstracted timeline- it doesn't have pictures of the frames on it, just a timeline of frames.
What ages we talking?
RoughAnimate has a little bit more of a professional timeline, some fiddly interactions.
Easytoon was my introduction and being able to hit next/previous on keyboard and just draw without fighting tools etc. more than made up for missing colour, sound, small resolutions etc.
easytoon (version 1.9.5 is nice and lightweight interface) is the MSPaint of animation tools.
RoughAnimator has a bit more going on for <$20.
Working in Krita (free) or other raster editors separately for backgrounds and other non-animated bits, you can composite everything together in Da Vinci etc.
stick em to your belt and you can type like the nerd in the Bebop movie
