Together with @azulsilva.bsky.social and Bluesky-less Magdalena Miranda, supported by @elife.bsky.social, weβre organizing a webinar bringing together people working in science communication and outreach.
Please, feel free to share the flyer with anyone who might be interested!
Check out my preprint on hippocampal ripple diversity, with @vitorlds.bsky.social and David Dupret at the MRC BNDU, where we reveal that distinct CA1 laminar profiles of ripples are associated with different reactivation dynamics: www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1...
19.03.2025 20:57 β π 34 π 9 π¬ 0 π 0During non-REM sleep, π sharp-wave ripples synchronize across the dorsal-ventral hippocampus, reactivating neural assemblies. This reactivation is more faithful after aversive experiencesβthanks to stronger recruitment of shock-responsive neurons in the ventral hippocampus.

We showed that ventral neurons better code the shock experience than dorsal ones. Also, dorsal and ventral neurons showed coordinated activity during both emotional experiences that remained during the subsequent sleep epoch π΄.
π§΅3 of 4
We recorded neural activity across the dorsal and ventral hippocampus as rats navigated the same track under two opposite emotional conditions: chasing a reward π§ or avoiding a mild shock β‘. This allowed us to compare how the hippocampus coordinates during positive vs. negative experiences.
