Having consistent lighting at all times of day for video content is huge (I have no such place in my home haha)

This is awesome!
Is that light meant to replicate the sun shining through a window? Looks very close to me eye.

Read this as part of a book club. It didn’t quite land for me personally, mostly because the formula for each chapter became too repetitive. But we had a great discussion around it actually so I have no regrets!

You could try Writebook’s source code. Probably has a bunch of stimulus controllers in it.
This seems like an odd comparison to me (sprinkles vs reactive component framework) but I’m curious to see it regardless

Audiobooks are great because they satisfy the part of me that wants to stay up doing things I enjoy while also putting me to sleep (which is what I actually need)

My latest #rails project is probably the most fun I’ve ever had programming. And also one of the most challenging/ambitious projects I’ve ever undertaken. Will hopefully write some words somewhere on the internet about it soon-ish

There was a period of my life where I did a lot of surfing (mostly in the Outer Banks) and really loved it. Now as a developer, I sometimes find myself thinking about what life might look like if AI renders my job obsolete… and I mostly just hope it involves surfing more again πŸ˜†

The White House are such big Star Wars fans that they gave Trump a red lightsaber while trying to claim he's the good guy.

This is a good strategy - hand-roll tests and observability so you can understand what your app is doing. This is a good practice always regardless of AI.

But it does result in yet another fun thing AI is taking away from us. I like writing code a lot more than testing or setting up DataDog e.g.

πŸ’‘ I feel like having a local (ie. completely offline) LLM would be insanely valuable in basically any survival/doomsday situation. Near-instantaneous advice for any predicament you could find yourself in.

I’m no shortcuts power user but it’s certainly handy from time to time. I’ve been listening to more audio books lately and a shortcut linking directly to whatever my current one is in Spotify has been a nice little time saver

I wish editors were more integrated with this. My preference would be

private

def foo

But it would be cool if everything below the "private line" could be colorized differently somehow. Maybe a different background or something.

Embedded videos on here crash maybe 50% of the time for me. Is this everyone’s experience?

Yeah I hear that. I think the β€œout of the box” tools you get are a bit limited. Building out our own explicit β€œcassette updater” logic has been helpful for the teams I’ve worked on.
Upgrading to a newer API version (of say, Stripe) usually starts by re-recording and seeing what test failures we get.

VCR is so good. I don’t feel like I hear enough rubyists talking about it. Absolute must have if you work with external APIs
