And offering up Corbyn's personal history of supporting trans people means nothing when you're also telling us he isn't going to be the one deciding the party platform. You don't organise with Nazis, and you don't organise with TERFs for exactly the same reason.

Nothing is all that's been offered. Literally. Trans people have been through it all. We ask people not to allow TERFs into their organising, we get ignored, and a year, two years down the road, suddenly there are TERFs everywhere. It happened with Labour and it will happen with this new party too.

You don't have the slightest interest in this issue, and it shows. Don't tell trans people how to advocate for ourselves when you don't care.

Sorry, but trans people have a good reason to suspect people who aren't clearly and overtly aligned with them in the midst of a massive moral panic against us.

Absolutely there is a way of doing that. Corbyn could be more clear about who he's looking to work with. So could Sultana. It's not enough to have been pro trans personally in the past, they have to state an unwillingness to work with GCs/TERFs.

The fact that they aren't doing that sends a message and it isn't a good one. It's not like this new party's rough ideological contours aren't already clear. They've discussed forming an electoral alliance with the Greens, but no one thinks they're going to do the same with Reform.

TERFs are like all other Nazis. If you don't exclude them from your organising at the outset, there's a very high risk that your party just becomes a TERF party because they infiltrate legitimate organisations as a tactic.

That they didn't do that is an unforced error, because transphobia is the organising principle of the far right. Now they're in a muddle where some of their most likely allies don't know if they can trust them, and that is not where they want to be.

That may be a legislative necessity from time to time, but it isn't a necessity when you're setting up a political party. Corbyn and Sultana, who are the big names behind the new party, could simply be clear that they will only work with people who support human rights for everyone.

I wish people would learn that it's not actually democratic to put fundamental human rights to a vote, because the people whose rights you're questioning find themselves in the unfair position of having to defend their right to exist in a way that no one else is ever asked to do.
