Per your original post: no one thinks voting achieves their ideal society; you vote for what comes closest. What society do I want? Nothing Trump had to offer. Easy choice, even if the alternative wasn't perfect. At least it wasn't destructive. So yes, voting IS an articulation of your question.

I think we are implying what type of society we want to live in voting for "one of two assholes". Miltary in the streets v rule of law and fairness toward our most vulnerable? Do we discuss it in those terms enough? No. But voting is the lever most available for the 160M who bother to show up.
