First off, the way I asked that was so pompous and I didnโ€™t mean it to be haha. To give them benefit of the doubt, drift, even though the โ€œsimplestโ€ mechanism, is such a brain twist.

Love that toy example @drmikewiser.bsky.social. @rafamarcondes.bsky.social when you say they want to know the why, do you mean statistically? I guess my question, what is their hang up exactly?

Few better than the Hognose! At least here in Kansas, anyway! They give the opossum a run for their money.

Saturday, I found an Eastern Hognose playing dead, with a twist. Platt (1969) wrote about hognose,"The mucous membrane lining the mouth sometimes hemorrhages and the mouth becomes bloody." Autohemorrhaging is well known in herps (Horned Lizards, Gr. Antillean Boas), but less reported in hognose.

Baby's Got Back... Injury
YouTube video by Project RattleCam Baby's Got Back... Injury

CW: Injured snake

We see it all on the livecam: the good, the bad, the ugly. This baby rattlesnake appears to have tangled with a predator, perhaps a bird. We haven't seen it again, so we hope it is healing up in a sheltered spot.

Greetings! I am the Zoology Collections Manager at the Sternberg Museum! Here is a typical cold day in Kansas, flipping Great Plains Ratsnakes on a 32F day. Quick question: as a new(ish) PI that is new to BlueSky, what's one advice or musing for new users? Thanks, and come see us at the Sternberg!
