As for L.A. traffic? A minimal concern, but the majority of L.A. traffic appears to be seasonally charged, and deportations of ALL undocumented or mid-immigration persons would only affect traffic by ~10% at the highest possible margin, and more likely ~5% or lower.

Classroom changes would be regional at best. The percentage of children who are undocumented in American classrooms is estimated at <3%. In fact, mass deportations could actually erode local systems leading to reduced school funding (via reduction of taxpayers).

W/ the recent passing of the BBB, over the next 5 yrs the American healthcare system is bracing for rural hospital & clinic closure, loss of preventative care access for underserved populations, loss of health insurance, and rising commercial insurance premiums.

As well, if we are going to assess NOAA/NWS staffing, a Warning Coordination Meteorologist, whose duty is to coordinate with local emergency agencies, was missing in the region (vacant position since April 2025).

And in regards to the Texas floods, I stated that the likely cause appears to be from dissemination of information, not forecasting specifically. There has been an identified lag from when NWS notified of life-threatening conditions & when local officials released warnings (3 - 4 hour gap). (1/2)

There's also a concern for data collection and analyses on the larger scale, beyond just the county, to analyze and forecast for these emergencies. NOAA lost ~20% of its staffing and NWS ~12%. These do have ripple effects on large scale tracking, analysis, and coordination of weather events.

I didn't name the Texas flood or insinuate it being the cause of this post. But it's a good time to talk about disaster preparedness and relief ahead of time.

For this disaster specifically, a lot of blame looks to be with poor coordination across multiple agencies to disseminate information. (1/2)

As a Paramedic, we are required to upkeep FEMA training for response to natural & man-made disasters. For natural disasters, we rely heavily on NOAA & NWS for forecasting & planning.

Cuts to FEMA, NOAA, & NWS all have dire consequences that affect citizens above anyone else.

I was aiming to go to med school. It's always been my dream after I became a Paramedic to advance to MD. Now, as someone who came from poverty & was the first person in my family line to graduate college with an A.A.S., there's no way I can afford med school. I'm hurt, but not giving up just yet.
