The most striking thing about the LA protests is how many people just dropped everything to show up and yell at federal agents. There are people in suits, and carrying dogs, and wearing flip flops or bike helmets.

These are not people who planned to do this today. But there they are.

That is SO gross, but I’m sad to say the culture is even worse now. There are of course many amazing educators who are holding out as long as they can and fighting against it in the many small ways they have available to them. We’re also 50th in the nation for teacher pay, so there’s that too.

As a FL res who was a teacher and works with teachers through a nonprofit, I could not in good conscience encourage educators to come here. The destantis’ governorship is draconian in its oppression of lgbtq+ teachers and students and even school districts in blue bubbles like my own are kowtowing.
