I am no Avatar fan, but calling the effects work on that "unfocused Marvel slop" is doing it a massive disservice. Regardless of what you think of the films, they are incredible works of animation(which is what it is, it's just an animated film) and the artists did amazing work on it.

This "haptic visuality" is what I've always meant by "texture" but didn't know how to talk about it. This is a fantastic video
