#Ukraine is the shield. They’re bleeding so we don’t have to.

Unfortunately, that’s why countries send aid - not to be nice. It’s the cheapest way to prevent a far worse war, where eventually their own soldiers and citizens are caught in the crossfire.

Only ones who should be “thankful” are us.

In an interview on CNN, Trudeau said: “One of the ways we define ourselves most easily is, ‘Well, we’re not American.’” Jake Tapper didn’t get it. Every single Canadian did.

We’re not ‘sorry’ this time.

Canadians have spent our whole lives pushing back against being lumped in with the US. Not because we have anything against Americans, but because we take pride in being distinctly Canadian.

That defiance has become part of our identity 🇨🇦

Even their drilling rigs, trucks, and fracking need diesel, lubricants, and petrochemicals from heavy crude.

So yeah… good luck with the whole “drill baby drill” thing.

The US has “light shale” oil. Canada has “heavy crude”. Aviation, agriculture, construction, shipping, manufacturing, and energy all rely on diesel, jet fuel, asphalt, ship fuel, lubricants, and industrial oils from heavy crude - not light shale.

Dear Trump,

You claim not to need us, but you’re acting kinda possessive and desperate. Big time giving us the ick. Now listen… I know rapists don’t like taking no for an answer, but this isn’t us playing hard to get. We’re just not interested.

Not yours (truly),
Canada 🇨🇦

If you’ve been feeling a strong sense of Canadian pride over the past few days, you’re not alone. We are united and strong - this is who we are at our core.

Remember that when you’re at the polls and see the name of the guy who spends every opportunity talking about how ‘broken’ #Canada is.

These tariffs appear to be for one reason, which is to create chaos and suffering - to harm democratic allies, isolate the U.S. economy, and push its citizens further into authoritarian fascism. How many more blatant examples are needed before people are willing to accept what’s really happening?

…would acknowledge our actions and choose not to impose economy-crippling tariffs on our country.

So when Trudeau mentioned tonight that Trump has not spoken to him since before his inauguration in January, my stomach dropped.

It was never about the border. It never has been.

The initiative was aimed at appeasing Trump’s concerns about illegal crossings & drug trafficking into the U.S. from Canada, despite our borders contributing less than 1% to this issue. It was intended to demonstrate Canada’s commitment to cooperating with our ally, in hopes that Trump…

We are all seriously under-reacting (please read): 🧵

My brother-in-law owns a small helicopter company in rural Northwestern Ontario, Canada. They are typically hired for odd jobs - hydro, firefighting, deliveries, etc.

In December, when Trump announced the tariff threats, his…

If I were Canadian PM I would immediately:

1. Create a new $15B science fund

2. Offer any credentialed US scientist funding for lab startup and replacement of NIH grants if they move to Canada

3. Immediate permanent residency

4. Citizenship after 2 years

Overnight a science superpower

Without this context, we lack accountability, which creates a lack of empathy. Without empathy, the structure of racism will remain.

So now ask yourself why they’re willing to say “empathy is a sin” and schools are “evil”.

Is it clear yet?

Can we start calling it what it is? #CriticalRaceTheory explores how laws & policies (education, housing, jobs, justice) have created inequality for BIPOC, over time. This imbalance has stemmed from our history of colonialism/slavery, and these are facts - not an attack on white people. (1/2)

Not sure if the universe is trolling us by having the inauguration fall on #MLKDay, but here we are.
